Newcastle Emlyn to Benefit From Assembly Grant
Newcastle Emlyn’s MP, Adam Price has welcomed news of investment in the area by the Assembly’s Heritage Minister. Alun Ffred Jones AM has announced a £1.5M investment in Wales’ most historical buildings with Newcastle Emlyn’s Cawdor Market Hall on the list. A grant of £5,255 is to be offered towards the cost of repairs to the roof structures, louvers of the clock tower, re-slating the roof in Welsh slate, repairs to windows and doors and some stonework repairs.
Adam Price MP said:
“This grant is excellent news and will have a major impact on the facility. The building is rightfully recognised as one of Wales’ most important historical sites and I am pleased that Alun Ffred has been able to secure funding to ensure the costs of repairs are met.”
Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones AM added:
“The Welsh Assembly Government is committed to supporting community engagement with the historic environment. Many of the grants offered have been brought to our attention because a community or group of people care about something which is central to their history and identity and want to safeguard it for the future.”
