More Access to Job Centre Facilities Needed
Calls are being made for greater access to job centre facilities for people in Carmarthenshire seeking employment. Adam Price MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM say that during this economic downturn people need as many opportunities to access employment as possible and are being hampered as a result of only having one Job Centre in the whole of the constituency. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM has now written to the Westminster Work and Pensions Secretary, James Purnell MP, calling for greater access to resources for local people.
Adam Price MP said:
“People need every opportunity to get into employment especially at a time like this where there have been so many job losses. It is difficult enough to access employment under the current economic climate but when there is only one job centre servicing the entire Carmarthen East and Dinefwr constituency it is harder still.”
Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM added:
“What is concerning is that there are pockets of the constituency that still have limited or no broadband access. As a result people in those areas can not even access online job vacancies making job centre resources even more important. For such a large number of people, over such a large geographical area during difficult economic times there should be more job centre outlets to give support to people looking for meaningful employment.”
