Calls to support automotive industry amidst Mitsui redundancies
Local MP Adam Price has issued their disappointment after 19 redundancies were made at the Mitsui factory in Capel Hendre. The losses have come about as a result of the downturn in the car manufacturing market and the significantly reduced demand from Mitsui’s 2 key customers Honda and Toyota.
Adam Price MP said:
“This is obviously very sad news and it is especially disappointing to have come so close to Christmas. My office has been in contact with the management and I know they are hoping to minimize the impact on workers, however the automotive industry across Britain is facing a difficult period and many of the factors are outside their control. I will be writing to the Assembly and the Westminster Government to see what can be done directly and indirectly to offer assistance through what is set to be a demanding period for all businesses.”
Adam added:
“The company has a great base of well trained and skilled staff that I know they are keen to retain but with the credit crunch hitting many of its customers the situation can not always be guaranteed. We will of course be offering all the assistance we can to the workers and the company.”
