Adam backs ‘Opt – Out’ System
Local MP Adam Price has welcomed the One Wales Governments decision to hold public meetings into the issue of presumed consent for organ donations. The Carmarthen East politician is urging people in the county to attend the meetings and make their views heard on this life changing issue. If enough support is given Wales could be the first country in the UK to move to n ‘opt out’ system.
Adam Price MP said:
“This is a very important issue that could lead to many lives being saved. There are currently not enough registered organ donors and this move could well be the difference between life and death for local patients. It is a very emotive subject and that’s why it is essential that the views of our county are heard at these public meetings.”
Adam added:
“I do believe that that a presumed consent scenario is the best possible way forward. There are currently almost 500 people waiting for organ donations in Wales with not enough people registered on the donation list. I would urge people in Carmarthenshire to come along to the meetings when they are announced and show their support for this idea.”
