Adam backing Shane for IRB award
The Amman Valley’s very own Shane Williams has been short listed by the International Rugby Board for their annual World Player of the Year award. Local MP Adam Price has welcomed the news and has raised a motion in Parliament to recognise the contribution Shane has made to rugby over the last 12 months.
Adam Price MP said:
“Shane’s performances over the last year for the Ospreys and Wales have been fantastic. He was instrumental in securing a Grand Slam for the country and is a great reflection on the area. For someone from this area to be named the best rugby player in the world, and the first Welshman to win the accolade would be an amazing achievement.”
Adam added:
“There are two Welsh players on the 5 man short list with Welsh captain Ryan Jones also nominated and it would be an excellent if either of these could pick up the award.”
The Parliamentary Motion Reads:
This house recognises the excellent contribution of Ryan Jones as Welsh Captain and Shane Williams in being short listed for the World IRB Player of the Year Award. Wishes both players the best of luck and notes the accolade is a fitting tribute to the fine performances they have contributed at both regional and international level.
